The FreetuxTV plays Live TV and radio channels. Besides this, it lets you record TV programs too. The users can select form as many as three fifty web channels. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:freetuxtv/freetuxtv

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install freetuxtv

Else .deb packages can be downloaded.

FreetuxTV works with VLC Series 0.8.6, 0.9.X, 1.0.X and 1.1.X. The users can download appropriate package for their distro.


How to use FreetuxTV App?

After you have installed the FreetuxTV, you can go to the Applications-Sound and Video and launch the app. A new window appears with the list of channel groups. Different groups comprise of various channels like music, news, sports and others. After selecting your Channel Group, click on Add to create the list.

Select your favorite channel from the side bar and click on play. While the video is being played, you can record the clip or program simultaneously. Just click on the record button and set the duration of recording. The app gives you the option to record the video in two different formats: Theora+Vorbis and H.264+MPGA.
